What Shielded by Grace does

Shielded by Grace is a mobile app that helps you keep the commitment you have made to yourself. When you feel temptation, the app interrupts the moment — playing an encouragement video from someone who loves you before harmful content can take hold. If you hit the panic button, your accountability partner is notified within minutes and a bridged phone call rings both of you so you can talk live.

We are honest about what apps on iOS and Android can and cannot do. Shielded by Grace is not an unbreakable blocker — operating systems do not allow that. Instead, it is built around interruption, partner visibility, and tampering alerts. A person determined to bypass the app can do so; the product is designed to make the easier path the one toward help, and to bring a real human into the loop quickly when it counts.

How accountability partners work

Shielded by Grace requires every user to set up at least one accountability partner during onboarding. This is not optional — the entire product is built around it.

  1. Inside the app, you invite a person you trust (a spouse, friend, mentor, sponsor, pastor) and provide their mobile number.
  2. We send that person a single SMS through Twilio explaining what Shielded by Grace is, what messages they will receive if they accept, and how to opt out.
  3. The partner must reply YES to confirm consent. No further messages are sent unless they reply YES.
  4. Once confirmed, the partner can see your daily check-ins and streak data, and will receive an SMS plus a bridged phone call when you hit the panic button.
  5. The partner can reply STOP at any time to opt out of all Shielded by Grace messages.

Panic event alert (sent only to confirmed partners)

Average frequency: fewer than one message per week, more during panic or tampering events. Shielded by Grace does not send marketing or promotional SMS — ever. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for support. Message and data rates may apply.

Voice and timing

We say “within minutes,” not instant. Carrier delays, OS background restrictions, and offline periods all factor in. We would rather be honest about the window than oversell it and lose your trust the first time it slips.
